What is Jailbreaking- for new GEEKS

Did you ever check someone’s iPhone home screen, and noticed that it has different or Android theme? Or maybe you’ve seen a live wallpaper, live weather on the iPad lock screen?
These are not available  on the App Store–these features and more are only possible with a hack called jailbreaking. (yes I checked for these features on the App Store when i saw something like this)
So how does jailbreaking work, and what does it actually do to your  iDevice?
is this legal? is this safe? do I void my warranty? there are thousands of questions arise….
Jailbreaking FAQ
What Is Jailbreaking?
Jailbreaking Glossary
Jailbreaking: The process of bypassing restrictions on iPhones and iPads to install other apps and tweaks not approved by Apple.
Rooting: A process similar to jailbreaking for hacking Android devices, game consoles, and so on. “Rooting” and “jailbreaking” are often used interchangeably.
Root: The “superuser” on various operating systems such as Android, iOS, and Mac OS X. When you gain “root” access via jailbreaking or rooting, you can access and modify every file on your gadget.
Cydia: A popular “unofficial” app store for jailbroken iOS devices.
CyanogenMod: A custom version of Android available for rooted Android phones and tablets.
Many smartphone, tablet, and game console makers include a layer of Digital Rights Management (DRM) software on their products. This DRM exists either to limit the software you can run on it, or is there for security reasons. Jailbreaking is the process of hacking these devices to bypass DRM restrictions, allowing you to run “unauthorized” software and to make other tweaks to your operating system.
More technically, jailbreaking can be thought of as the process of installing “a modified set of kernel patches (the kernel being the supervisor of the operating system) that allow you to run unsigned code,” as saurik explains. It also gives you root-level access, which is otherwise unavailable. The term “root” comes from UNIX, where it is the superuser account that has unrestricted rights and permissions to all files. This provides you with added flexibility, but it also has some inherent dangers (more on that later).
You can alter or install anything onto your phone or tablet such as UI hacks (like the 5-icon dock) or unofficial apps (like classic console emulators) that would not otherwise be accepted into the App Store. Saurik‘s alternative app store, called Cydia, is arguably the definitive repository of such apps or tweaks. Cydia is so ubiquitous in iOS jailbreaking circles that most jailbreak tools install it automatically.
iPhone hackers first coined the term “jailbreaking” in reference to breaking the iPhone out of Apple’s iTunes “jail.”
Why Jailbreak?

Customized iPhone with live weather.
To Apple, an app is like a sandbox. Your app can only play within the sandbox, but if you want to roam outside of it, jailbreaking is your only option.
So you jailbreak to break free from Apple’s catch hold wherein you can only install apps from the Appstore and dont get to do any tweaks.
and Yes its fun…. try installing different Themes from Cydia store via Winterboard.
Why Not Jailbreak?
Jailbreaking has some inherent risks. Root access is necessary for modding, but it can also open the floodgates for malicious attacks. Although there haven’t been many documented cases of this, one hacker did create a harmless Rick-roll worm known as iKee to emphasize the vulnerability of jailbroken devices that haven’t been properly secured by users.
Additionally, because jailbreak apps don’t have to adhere to Apple’s guidelines, some users complain about general instability, increased data usage, or decreased battery life.
At this point, some users argue the value in jailbreaking has diminished as iOS matures and incorporates features that were once only available to modders, such as multitasking, home screen backgrounds, and improved notifications. One might argue, however, that without jailbreaking, Apple may not have adopted some of these features in the first place.
In the ongoing cat-and-mouse game between Apple and iOS hackers, some might say that Apple has been gaining the upper–hand as jailbreak tools have begun to slow in release. New jailbreak methods used to be released within days of an iOS version release (if not before), but as Apple vigilantly seals security holes with every new firmware and hardware update, hackers may be struggling more to keep up. For example, a jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 only recently came out–months after Apple released them. Still, when it comes to hackers, if there’s a will, there’s almost certainly a way.
How to Jailbreak?

Generally, jailbreaking tools come in the form of OS X or Windows desktop applications. Currently, the only tool to jailbreak the A5 processor-based iPhone 4S and iPad 2 with iOS 5.0.1 is called Absinthe. Other tools, such as PwnageTool and redsn0w, are only able to jailbreak older devices running iOS 5.0.1. The renowned iPhone Dev-Team released the very first jailbreak tool, and the group is still central to the iOS hacker community; its blog is a good place to go to see what’s new in jailbreaking tools.
Is Jailbreaking Legal?
It depends a little bit on who you ask, but as far as the US government is concerned, it is legal to jailbreak your smartphone. In 2010, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) recognized the arguments of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF, the international non-profit digital rights advocacy organization) to add phone jailbreaking to a list of exemptions to anti-circumvention provisions.
Imagine buying a car with the hood welding shut so you can’t modify it. Some say that’s just not right.
Some folks, particularly hackers and modders, insist that jailbreaking is a right and do it as something of a statement. They’ll often compare it it souping up a car: Imagine buying a car with the hood welding shut so you can’t modify it. Some say that’s just not right.
Apple and some other companies, on the other hand, continue to plead with regulators to outlaw the practice. The best they can do at this point is tell users that jailbreaking defies their terms of use and voids the warranty. In other words, while you don’t risk being arrested just for jailbreaking, don’t expect any help from the Apple Store genius when your hacked iPhone has a problem.
There are various Step by Step guides to jailbreaking your iDevice given in the previous posts, just need to digg in there….
Happy Jailbreaking. and Yes it voids your warrantly if you mess up with your iDevice while you are jailbreaking.

Step By step guide to jailbreak iOS 6

This is only compatible with Non A5 devices, so the non compatible devices are:

iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2, and the new iPad, ipod touch 5th generation.

How-to jailbreak iOS 6:
Step 1: Download iOS 6, and then update to this latest version by following our instructions posted here.
Step 2: Download the latest version of Redsn0w for the relevant operating system from the iPhoneDev Team (Windows/Mac).
Step 3: Extract the contents of the downloaded compressed file and save it to a familiar location on your PC or Mac.
Step 4: Run the executable Redsn0w file, making sure to run in administrator mode if using a Windows based machine. If you are on OS X Mountain Lion, start Redsn0w by Ctrl-Click on the icon and then selecting Open from the new menu.
Redsn0wdev4
Step 5: Select the Extras option from the main menu of the Redsn0w interface and point it to the desired IPSW file.
Step 6: Redsn0w has advanced dramatically with the last few major revisions and now has the power to whip through the jailbreak without much interaction. Follow the onscreen instructions (Redsn0w might ask you to enter DFU mode) to complete the jailbreak process.
How-to boot tethered on iOS 6:
this is a tethered jailbreak, that means you will be required to boot into tethered-mode every time you reboot your device. This can be done by starting Redsn0w:
click on the “Extras” button on screen and then simply click on “Just Boot” option and follow the on-screen instructions. Once done, you will be rebooted back into tethered-jailbreak mode.
How-to install Cydia on iOS 6: (Pheww!!!!)
The current release of Redsn0w doesn’t install Cydia by default. To install cydia, follow the steps below:
The following steps to install Cydia is done using Terminal on Mac. You can use the same commands on Windows using a SSH program like WinSCP.
  • Note down the IP address of your device.
  • Make sure your device is connected to your PC or Mac. Start Terminal on Mac and type:

ssh root@

  • It will now prompt you to enter the root password. Type: alpine
  • Once done, type:

wget -q -O /tmp/cyinstall.sh http://downloads.kr1sis.net/cyinstall.sh && chmod 755 /tmp/cyinstall.sh && /tmp/cyinstall.sh

Reboot, now your jailbreak is complete.

iOS 6 Jailbreak

iOS 6 jailbreak is here but not yet completely!!
If you have  an iPhone 4 or 3GS, or a fourth-generation iPod Touch? If you do, and you upgraded to iOS 6, you can now jailbreak it.
Devices Not supported
iPhone 4S.
iPhone 5
iPad 2 or 3
latest or fifth gen iPod.
This latest jailbreak comes courtesy of the iPhone Dev-Team. the Dev-Team hacked away at developer versions of iOS 6 to develop a jailbreak method, with mixed results. The newest release of the Redsn0w jailbreak tool gets the job done, though, but its not easy, so all those with big hearts… go do it.

the jailbreak is currently a tethered one, so you’ll have to plug your iPhone into a computer and run Redsn0w whenever you restart it. If you don’t, you’ll lose the jailbreak, so this hack isn’t exactly ideal.
Warning-

If you rely on unlock, do not get tempted to upgrade or jailbreak. give us some time to help you.

jailbreak, have fun, get more…. themes, apps and more

Well friend..

I know you love your jailbroken iPhones…. and yes.. i do too…
I don’t jailbreak my iPhone because I wanna show it to Apple, but i love to see how much options that I get if from Jailbreaking..

Today I will share with you the best looking and feeling Theme for your iPhone which is applied with winterboard.

the theme is Ayecon… its paid on Cydia but if you have sinfuliphone repo installed, then you can get it free too..

On my personal iPhone I have the following Cydia tweaks/packages installed: Activator, AnyAttach, AppCent, AssistantLove, Attacher Pro, ayecon, BadgeClear, BannerDisable, biteSMS, Blackout, Bulletin, CleverPin, Curiosa, Display Recorder, FolderEnhancer, iFile, Mail Enhancer Pro, NCSettings, PasswordPilot Pro, PkgBackup, PocketSafari, Powerguard, ProtectiSafari Download Manager, Safari UniBar, Safari Upload Enabler, SBSettings, ScrollingBoard, Springtomize 2, Stride, Swipe Safari, Switchy, Torch, WinterBoard, Zephyr and 3G Unrestrictor 5.
As you can imagine, I’m deeply entrenched in the jailbreak community. To me, the above list represents most of the marquee tweaks and extensions Cydia has to offer. With the above list installed on my iPhone 4S, I can move around iOS faster, do more with Siri, be more efficient at messaging and email, manage my Home screen better, use Mobile Safari more effectively, keep my iPhone more protected, and hack limitations to allow features like FaceTime over 3G and ‘Do Not Disturb’ for Notification Center on iOS 5. In case you didn’t know, those last two features are coming in iOS 6 for everyone later this year.

Enjoy

iAP Cracker is a simple app which does not require any configuration and complex handling. All users have to do is install the app and all the paid in-app stuff automatically becomes free. Tapping the ‘buy’ button for an item does not require iTunes login and gets user the item straight away. If it asks for iTunes login it means that iAP cracker does not work with that app.

So all you need to do is install IAP Cracker and enjoy…..

you dont have to pay for any in app purchases and all your games and softwares will be fully open…

iPhone 5 latest news

hi friends
there is a new news for iphone 5

Leaked parts point to a largely similar form factor, although in a real turn up for the books, the ever-present 3.5-inch display will become longer – altering the aspect ratio while pushing the diameter nearer the 4-inch mark. Although the Cupertino company isn’t renowned for following a precedent set by Android manufacturers (if anything, it’s the other way round), the iPhone now appears miniature against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note devices, thus it makes sense for Apple to offer consumers a more competitive device in terms of screen real-estate.

Aside from the inevitable implementation of 4G LTE, the parts which have surfaced suggest the tried and tested aesthetics will not be changed significantly, and Bryce Haymond of Blackpool Creative has cooked up a set of high-res 3D renders of the unannounced device based on the aforementioned leaks.
As you can see, it does look the part, and if it does accurately reflect the final design, it will certainly entice the masses once again. Having said that, with so many great, “dreamed up” concepts having treated us over the past few months, I suspect many will be disappointed to see what is essentially an elongated iPhone 4 /4S.

As well as the YouTube clip, there is an archive of more than 70 high-res images for you to drool over, which are linked to at the source link above.
There’s no doubt the iPhone – after five years on the market – is due a larger screen, but with the iPhone 4 being nearly two years old, I would also have thought the Cupertino company would be looking to innovate on the design.
With Samsung overtaking Apple to become the number one smartphone manufacturer, and Windows Phone – buoyed by the Nokia Lumia series – taking the Cupertino’s smartphone crown in the world’s largest market, China, Tim Cook’s company knows the next device will need to carry that “wow” factor in order for the iPhone to re-establish its dominance within the smartphone industry.

WWDC is just days away, but with so long until the purported September / October release, don’t expect to be hearing any official word regarding the eagerly-anticipated device.

Seas0nPass And Sn0wbreeze Updated To Jailbreak Apple TV 5.0.2 Untethered

For a lot of Apple device owners and jailbreak fans, it’s always good day when a new tool or an update to an existing jailbreak tool is released with additional firmware or device support. As we know already, Apple pushed out an update to the Apple TV yesterday, taking the current firmware version to 5.0.2, and thanks to the guys over at FireCore, today will go down as a good day.
Their popular Seas0nPass tool has been promptly and efficiently updated to provide support for Apple’s latest software release, bringing an untethered jailbreak to iOS 5.0.2 on the second-generation Apple TV. Although Apple have publicly announced that they see the Apple TV as somewhat of a hobby, the quick updates and relatively recent overhaul of the user-interface may suggest that they are starting to take the little black box a bit more seriously, especially as sales figures are increasing steadily.
Seas0nPass
This update though is extremely minor and doesn’t bring any real notable changes that users should concern themselves with. In the past, we have seen the fruit company push out tiny point updates in order to patch jailbreak vulnerabilities, but the release of an updated Seas0nPass and a tweet from Apple TV jailbreak guru NitoTV confirms that the latest build is still susceptible to the untether.
As it has been the case in the past and continues to be so, Apple’s latest generation Apple TV unit is not supported with this latest release of Seas0nPass, with the software only providing an untethered jailbreak on the second-generation black hockey puck. The official word from those involved behind the jailbreaks reveals that there is still no news relating to a jailbreak for the third-generation Apple TV, meaning those who decided to opt for the 1080p version of Apple’s hobby project will need to sit patiently as Apple TV 2G owners enjoy the freedom that an untethered jailbreak always brings to any iDevice.

These last few weeks have certainly been frantic in the world of jailbreaking with Apple having to live with the fact that pretty much all of their devices that are capable of running latest firmware can be jailbroken with the Apple TV 3 being the exception. As we approach the final run in to the WWDC it seems that the jailbreakers are currently winning the ever exciting cat and mouse game.
You can follow the guide posted here on how to jailbreak your Apple TV 2G untethered using Seas0nPass. Be sure to download the latest version of Seas0nPass from the links embedded below before you go ahead.

Update: Sn0wbreeze v2.9.6 has been released too to untether-jailbreak Apple TV on 5.0.2 firmware. Download it from here.
