first update your iOS device using iTunes for those who don’t depend on software unlock or using Custom made IPSW to preserve the baseband.

1- UPDATE to 5.0.1 

2-run redsn0w, and hit jailbreak

3-folow the steps to jailbreak

4-install cydia

Hello friends,

here is the method to unlock your iPhone 4 using Gevey Sim on iOS 5 or 5.O.1

all you need to do is to Update using a custom made Firmware so that you do not update your Baseband.

for this you require…
1- Software to Create Custome Firmware( Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze)
Download Redsn0w here for WINDOWS & MAC.
2-iOS  5.0.1 Firmware which can be downloaded from iTunes this is for iphone 4 GSM,
3-iPhone 4 (ofcourse)
4-a little knowledge of DFU mode and Jailbreaking (read other posts if you don’t know this)
5- A GEVEY Sim for unlocking

Caution- this will work only on baseband 04.10.01 & lower only and not on the updated base bands

STeps to follow

1- open Redsn0w and then go to EXTRAS and select>> custom IPSW.
store your downloaded ios 5.0.1 on the desktop so that you located it easily.

2- now again open Redsn0w and go to Extras>> then click Pwned DFU and follow the steps.

3- now open iTunes and manually restore using Shift+Restore or Optio+restore  using the custom made IPSW.
4-once your iphone is restored, open Redsn0w again and this time click Jailbreak and follow the steps, its EASY, install Cydia by the way… you will need it later on.

5- Once the jailbreak process is over and your phone starts, Open Cydia>>Go to Manage>>Sources>> then add this source manually
cydia.myrepospace.com/squuiid

6- Install FuriousMOd from the above repo.
7-Restart your iPhone.
8-in the meantime put your GEVEY sim.
9-wait until GEVEY welcome screen appears, ACCEPT it
10-Note there are no bars and NO SERVICE APPREAS
11-WAIT 10 sec, make a call to 112 and hang after 5 secs
12-now go to SETTINGS>> turn on Airplane mode, wait for approx 45 sec and check if NO SIM CARD INSTALLED message appears.
13-now turn airplane mode off, and wait for SIM CARD FAILURE.
14-HURRAY.

This Works full time….
